This position is based on-site in Lahore, Pakistan, and requires 3-4 years of relevant experience. The working hours are from 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM Pakistan Time, with immediate availability for joining. The role focuses on designing, building, and shipping cross-platform mobile applications for both Android and iOS using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform technologies. The ideal candidate will work closely with backend, QA, product, and design teams to deliver high-quality releases on the Play Store and App Store.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy cross-platform apps targeting Android and iOS using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform frameworks.
- Build native Android features leveraging Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Integrate iOS components through Swift/SwiftUI interoperability, expect/actual declarations, and native SDKs when shared code is insufficient.
- Maximize shared code usage for domain logic, data handling, networking, and persistence while maintaining a native look and feel on each platform.
- Architect offline-first solutions with reliable synchronization, conflict resolution, and retry mechanisms, especially for payment-critical workflows.
- Implement secure networking and data storage practices suitable for financial applications.
- Develop responsive and adaptive user interfaces compatible with phones, tablets, foldables, and various screen densities.
- Write scalable, testable codebases following clean architecture and modular design principles.
- Profile and optimize app startup time, rendering performance, memory consumption, and battery usage on both platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of app releases on Google Play and Apple App Store.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, including advanced features such as coroutines, Flow, and sealed classes.
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, including state hoisting, recomposition optimization, side effects management, and navigation.
- Proven track record of using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform in production environments targeting both Android and iOS.
- Working knowledge of the iOS development ecosystem, including Xcode, Swift basics, CocoaPods/SPM, provisioning profiles, and code signing.
- Solid understanding of architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and unidirectional data flow.
- Experience with dependency injection frameworks like Dagger Hilt (Android) and Koin or kotlin-inject in shared Kotlin Multiplatform modules.
- Experience delivering hybrid or cross-platform applications on Android and iOS, with the ability to determine which components belong in shared code versus native implementations.
- Familiarity with bridging native platform APIs such as camera, biometrics, NFC, push notifications, and deep linking.
- Proficiency in networking libraries including Ktor Client (Kotlin Multiplatform), Retrofit, and OkHttp, with expertise in interceptors, authentication token refresh, and error handling.
- Knowledge of serialization using kotlinx.serialization.
- Experience with offline storage solutions such as SQLDelight (Kotlin Multiplatform), Room, or DataStore.
- Lifecycle-aware state management and handling of process death on Android, along with state restoration on iOS.
- Ability to create responsive UIs using window size classes and adaptive layouts.
- Strong focus on security practices relevant to payment applications, including secure storage with Android Keystore and iOS Keychain, SSL/certificate pinning, encrypted local data, secure token/session management, and biometric authentication (BiometricPrompt on Android, Face ID/Touch ID on iOS).
- Awareness of code obfuscation techniques (R8/ProGuard), root/jailbreak detection, and PCI-DSS compliance principles.
- Commitment to clean code principles, SOLID design, and modular Gradle architecture.
- Proficient with Git workflows, including branching strategies, pull request reviews, and conventional commit messages.
- Experience writing unit tests using JUnit, kotlin.test, MockK, and Turbine for Flow, as well as UI tests with Compose UI Test framework and XCTest.
- Skilled in debugging and profiling tools such as Android Studio Profiler, Xcode Instruments, and LeakCanary.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Bitrise, Fastlane, and automated deployment to Play Store and TestFlight.
- Familiarity with Flutter or React Native frameworks.
- Native iOS development experience using SwiftUI.
- Knowledge of Material Design 3 and Apple Human Interface Guidelines.
- Experience with crash reporting and analytics tools like Firebase Crashlytics or Sentry.
- Exposure to payment SDKs, payment gateways, QR code payments, or wallet integrations.
- Having published apps on Google Play Store and Apple App Store is a plus.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cross-platform mobile technologies in a dynamic environment focused on secure, scalable, and high-performance financial applications.
