CGT Solutions is seeking an experienced IBM i AS400 Administrator to join their team in Hyderabad. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining IBM i / AS400 systems to ensure optimal availability, performance, and security for critical business applications. This full-time, on-site role involves monitoring system health, performing backups and restores, applying patches and upgrades, managing user profiles and access, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The administrator will work closely with application, development, and security teams to support deployments, optimize system configurations, and resolve incidents efficiently. Additionally, the role includes documenting procedures, contributing to automation and process improvements, and participating in on-call support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IBM i / AS400 systems including user management, job scheduling, backup and restore operations, and performance tuning.
- Monitor system health and ensure high availability and security of business-critical applications.
- Apply patches, upgrades, and perform routine maintenance on IBM i operating systems and AS400 hardware.
- Manage security administration tasks such as access controls, auditing, and compliance adherence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system, network, and application-related issues promptly in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application, development, and security groups to support deployments and optimize system configurations.
- Document system procedures and contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in on-call support and provide after-hours assistance when required.
Required Qualifications
- Proven expertise in IBM i / AS400 system administration covering user management, job scheduling, backup/restore, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system, CL commands, and AS400 hardware configuration and maintenance.
- Experience in security administration on IBM i systems, including access controls, auditing, and compliance best practices.
- Familiarity with integration of IBM i systems with other enterprise applications and databases.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system, network, and application issues efficiently.
- Experience working in IT infrastructure support or data center environments, preferably within enterprise settings.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to work on-site in Hyderabad and participate in occasional after-hours or weekend support.
