Our client, STAR Dyes, is seeking an experienced Import Operations and Accounts Manager based in Lahore. This role is pivotal in managing the company’s import activities while overseeing all related financial operations. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs documentation, and import procedures to facilitate the smooth flow of goods. Leading a team of four, the manager will provide strategic direction and operational oversight to meet departmental objectives. The position requires a strong background in vendor management, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, inventory control, and supply chain coordination to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all import operations, ensuring strict compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Lead and supervise a team of four members, providing training, guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely procurement and cost-effective sourcing of imported materials.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to synchronize inventory management and import scheduling.
- Maintain accurate records of import transactions, payments, and banking documentation.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, including maintaining customer and supplier ledgers.
- Assist in monthly financial closing processes and prepare financial reports related to import and accounting activities.
- Prepare detailed import costing and calculate landed costs to support budgeting and pricing strategies.
- Implement cost control measures to optimize operational expenses.
- Utilize ERP software and Inventory Management Systems to monitor imports and manage inventory efficiently.
- Ensure adherence to customs documentation requirements and compliance with Incoterms.
- Collaborate with accounting teams to integrate import costs accurately into financial statements.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and international trade policies.
- Support internal audits and liaise with external auditors concerning import and accounts transactions.
- Develop and enhance processes related to import logistics, accounting workflows, and compliance procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in import operations management and accounting functions, preferably within a manufacturing or trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs compliance, and import documentation.
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising a team.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
