The Department of Psychiatry at Aga Khan University aims to be a centre of excellence, providing leadership in mental health research, education, and clinical services. The department operates an 18-bed acute care adult psychiatric unit, a day care program, 24-hour emergency services, consultation and referral services, and 33 weekly outpatient clinics. An occupational therapy program supports both inpatient and day care services. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical care, research, and administrative duties as assigned.
- Provide accessible, compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based psychiatric care within the academic setting.
- Manage outpatient clinics and oversee inpatient psychiatric services.
- Design and conduct research projects, analyze findings, and publish results to contribute to the wider academic community.
- Train and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in accordance with established curricula and standards.
- Participate in national and international academic conferences and symposia related to medical education and psychiatry.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of at least four years of structured postgraduate training in Psychiatry from a reputable institution.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, recognized professional qualifications such as FCPS, MRCPsych, American Board certification, or an equivalent credential.
- Valid registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
