The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), a leading not-for-profit healthcare institution in Pakistan, is seeking a Senior Instructor in the Department of Paediatrics at its Off-Campus Hospital in Karimabad, Karachi. AKUH offers comprehensive medical services through its tertiary care hospital, a network of off-campus hospitals, medical centers, clinical laboratories, and pharmacies across more than 120 cities. The hospital is recognized for its commitment to high-quality patient care and safety, holding accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health provides advanced clinical services, undergraduate and postgraduate education, subspecialty training, and research opportunities. The department includes a pediatric ward with 84 beds and a state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) equipped with 24 high-acuity beds and 10 level 2 care monitored cots. The Neonatal section also offers a well-established two-year fellowship program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise inpatient and outpatient services alongside senior faculty members.
- Conduct daily team rounds, develop treatment plans, and facilitate timely patient discharges in consultation with senior faculty and fellows.
- Implement and maintain a quality-based system integrating academic and service models.
- Teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate students in accordance with established standards and curriculum.
- Develop and present quality improvement initiatives for clinical units under faculty guidance.
- Participate in patient complaint reviews, case reviews, and root cause analyses.
- Engage in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities, including General Paediatrics.
Required Qualifications:
- MBBS degree with a valid license from the Pakistan Medical Commission.
- Completion of structured postgraduate training in Paediatrics from a reputable institution.
- FCPS or MRCP qualification in Paediatrics.
- Strong interpersonal, teaching, and training skills.
- Proficient procedural skills with the ability to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in diverse clinical settings.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work in shifts as required.
