This role is responsible for supporting the review and evaluation of the Bank’s Internal Control System (ICS) and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), as well as management processes and financial controls. The position involves conducting audit fieldwork and related activities to ensure compliance with established standards. The incumbent will execute audit assignments, document findings, and prepare workpapers and reports in line with Group Internal Audit (GIA) governance and the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS). Additionally, the role includes assisting with other audit-related tasks as delegated by senior audit management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct both offsite and onsite reviews of the Bank’s ICS and ICFR, following GIA methodology, Group directives, and governance requirements. Focus areas include control execution, certification, risk classification, documentation, timeliness, and escalation processes.
- Assess whether assigned ICS/ICFR controls have been performed, evidenced, and certified according to control descriptions and prescribed standards.
- Review control documentation, audit trails, and supporting evidence to verify effective implementation and compliance with established procedures.
- Participate actively in audit engagements by analyzing reports, conducting system-based reviews, interrogating data, and applying other audit techniques to identify control gaps, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.
- Execute audit assignments efficiently within agreed timelines, adhering to approved methodologies, policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers, observations, and reports that accurately reflect audit findings and support conclusions.
- Provide independent and objective assurance along with recommendations to enhance risk management, governance, and internal control processes.
- Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with management and relevant stakeholders throughout the audit lifecycle.
- Support the Audit In-Charge and senior audit management in implementing departmental initiatives, projects, and assignments.
- Undertake special reviews, investigations, and other assignments as directed by the Line Manager or Senior Audit Management.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in internal audit, particularly within banking or financial services, focusing on internal controls and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, audit methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in audit software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
