AskDegree is looking for an IT Security Analyst to support IT security and compliance services for AskDegree. Working closely with senior team members, you'll gain hands-on experience across security operations, vulnerability management, and SOC 2 compliance programs.

Key Responsibilities Security Operations

  • Monitor networks and systems for security issues and escalate suspicious activity.

  • Assist with installing and configuring security tools, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and encryption software.

  • Support vulnerability scans and security tests, and help track identified issues through to remediation.

  • Assist in investigating and documenting security incidents under the guidance of senior team members.

  • Review system logs and audit trails periodically and flag anything that needs attention.

Compliance and GRC

  • Support SOC 2 compliance programs, including collecting and organizing audit evidence.

  • Help monitor compliance platforms (e.g., Drata) and follow up with stakeholders on failing tests or pending tasks.

  • Assist in drafting and updating information security policies and procedures.

  • Support periodic user access reviews and help verify onboarding and offboarding steps are completed.

  • Assist with vendor risk assessments, including reviewing vendor security documentation such as SOC 2 reports.

  • Help coordinate penetration tests by gathering scoping information and tracking findings.

  • Track security awareness training completion and send reminders to employees.

General

  • Help colleagues install security software and follow good security practices.

  • Research security tools and improvements, and share recommendations with the team.

  • Stay up to date on security trends, threats, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in IT security or compliance.

  • Basic understanding of networking, firewalls, and common security concepts.

  • Familiarity with at least one security framework, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Eagerness to learn and the ability to work with clients under guidance.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Drata, Vanta, or similar compliance platforms.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or AWS.

  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, or CEH.
