Java Technical Lead

We are looking for a Senior Java Technical Lead for a leading fintech platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading Java development teams, driving technical architecture and design, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance microservices-based applications. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Java development, system architecture, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of Java microservices for payments, banking, lending, or digital wallet products.
Define architecture, coding standards, and best practices.
Run design and code reviews.
Break down business requirements with the Product Owner and turn them into technical solutions. Mentor engineers and raise the quality of the team’s output.
Design and review REST and SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations, and third-party connections. Make sure systems meet fintech security and compliance needs such as PCI DSS, PSD2, KYC/AML, and GDPR.
Improve performance, resilience, and observability across services.
Work with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and releases.
Take part in sprint planning, estimation, and delivery tracking in Scrum.
Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.
Assess technical risks and debt, and raise them early with stakeholders.

Requirements

8 to 12 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead role.
Strong Java experience (Java 11 or higher) and Spring Boot. This is mandatory.
Proven delivery of microservices architectures in production. This is mandatory.
At least 3 years in fintech, banking, or payments.
Solid knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and OpenAPI.
Experience with messaging and streaming tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL) and at least one NoSQL store. Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
Understanding of design patterns, domain-driven design, API security (OAuth2, JWT), and distributed system patterns such as saga, circuit breaker, and idempotency.
Experience with Git, Jira, and Agile or Scrum delivery. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
