As we build our founding team, we are seeking individuals with a background in journalism or mass communication who are passionate about understanding media dynamics and public discourse in Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the development of stories and narratives across various news outlets and social media platforms.
- Verify claims and trace the origins of information to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify recurring patterns in how issues are framed and communicated to the public.
- Translate research findings into clear, accessible written reports and analyses.
Required Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with Pakistani media, with the ability to recognize when a story appears to be strategically “pushed” or influenced.
- Fluency in reading and writing Urdu is essential. Proficiency in a regional language such as Punjabi, Pashto, or Sindhi is highly advantageous.
- Ability to analyze content impartially from all sides of the political spectrum without bias.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in fact-checking and working comfortably with spreadsheets and data.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
A genuine interest in media, propaganda, and the mechanisms through which public opinion is shaped will be considered a significant advantage. Candidates who already follow these topics closely and demonstrate enthusiasm for media analysis are especially encouraged to apply.
To apply, please submit your CV along with a brief description of a recent news story or narrative that you found compelling. In your explanation, include your perspective on what factors you believe were driving that story or narrative.
This opportunity offers a chance to contribute to a pioneering research initiative at the intersection of media studies and public discourse in Pakistan. If you are motivated by understanding how information influences society and enjoy working in a dynamic, research-focused environment, we would be keen to hear from you.
