Sapphire Finishing Mills is seeking a Junior Assistant Manager – Imports to join its Corporate Office in Gulberg, Lahore. This role is ideal for a supply chain professional with an MBA in Supply Chain and 1–2 years of relevant experience. The position involves managing various aspects of import operations, including advance payments, open-account transactions, Letters of Credit (LCs), purchase order preparation, shipping document scrutiny, customs clearance, import duties, sales tax invoices, and landed-cost calculations. Key Responsibilities
- Manage import transactions through different payment methods such as advance payments, open accounts, and Letters of Credit (LCs).
- Prepare accurate Purchase Orders (POs) detailing procurement requirements including quantities, prices, and supplier information.
- Scrutinize shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, transport papers, and certificates, ensuring completeness and accuracy before processing.
- Coordinate the clearance of imported shipments on a cash or EFS basis, working closely with customs and clearing agents to avoid delays.
- Calculate import duties and taxes in compliance with customs regulations, ensuring correct landed cost calculations for imported goods.
- Process clearing bills, sales tax invoices, and related import documentation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Collaborate with suppliers, banks, finance teams, and other departments to facilitate smooth import operations.
- Maintain detailed records and support pricing, procurement, inventory, and profitability decisions through precise landed-cost calculations.
Required Qualifications
- MBA in Supply Chain Management from a recognized university.
- 1–2 years of relevant professional experience in imports, supply chain, international procurement, import documentation, shipping, customs clearance, trade finance, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of import payment mechanisms including Letters of Credit and open-account transactions.
- Experience with purchase order preparation and commercial documentation.
- Familiarity with customs clearance procedures, import duties, taxes, and tariff classifications.
- Proficiency in scrutinizing shipping documents and coordinating import shipments.
- Ability to accurately calculate landed costs and handle sales tax documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and numerical skills.
- Effective communication, coordination, and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Candidates with hands-on experience in coordinating import payments with banks and suppliers are preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP or supply chain management systems and advanced Excel skills will be advantageous.
- Experience working with clearing agents and handling EFS-based shipment clearance is a plus.
- Early-career supply chain professionals who have practical exposure to import operations and related documentation will find this role well-suited to their skills.
