Junior Full Stack Software Engineer (TypeScript & Backend Focus)

Devfum, a software engineering company based in Faisal Town, Lahore, is seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer with 6 to 18 months of professional experience. The role is on-site and focuses on building scalable backend systems, modern web applications, and AI-powered platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, hands-on experience with Node.js backend development, and practical knowledge of React.js and Next.js. This position emphasizes backend functionality, including database operations, API integrations, and production-ready feature implementation, while also involving frontend development. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, thinking through edge cases, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools without compromising code quality or security.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and Next.js.
- Build backend services, RESTful APIs, and business logic with Express.js or similar frameworks.
- Design and manage relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, queries, and ORM operations.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control (RBAC), and session management.
- Create responsive, reusable, and performant frontend interfaces using React.js and Next.js.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, webhooks, and external services.
- Ensure input validation, error handling, logging, and asynchronous workflows are properly implemented.
- Manage database transactions, API failures, retries, and data consistency in backend applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and strongly typed TypeScript code.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex for coding, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
- Review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure application functionality.
- Debug frontend and backend issues, investigate errors, and troubleshoot using logs and debugging tools.
- Work with existing codebases, understand application architecture, and implement new features following established engineering patterns.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative development.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6 to 18 months of professional software development experience (internships, academic projects, and training excluded). Candidates with more than 18 months of experience will not be considered.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, promises, and modern ES6+ features.
- Hands-on backend development experience using Node.js with Express.js or similar frameworks.
- Practical experience building frontend applications using React.js and Next.js.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, authentication, authorization, and backend business logic.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with ORMs such as Prisma, Drizzle, or TypeORM.
- Understanding of database schemas, relationships, queries, and transactions.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and handling asynchronous operations.
- Knowledge of input validation, error handling, and secure API development.
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants, with the ability to review and debug generated code.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lahore. Candidates must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work. The monthly salary range is Rs90,000 to Rs120,000.
