This role offers the opportunity to support a Senior Manager in managing a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily focusing on partnership and self-assessment tax returns. The successful candidate will be involved in preparing tax documentation, handling various tax relief claims, and liaising with clients and HM Revenue & Customs on tax and national insurance matters. The position requires active participation in tax administration tasks and providing general support to the wider tax team, including identifying and drafting tax advisory assignments. At a senior level, responsibilities will also include reviewing tax returns prepared by assistants, delegating work, and supporting management in client communications.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Senior Manager with a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely tax return preparation.
- Prepare Partnership Tax Returns for a varied range of businesses.
- Process tax return information and prepare Self-Assessment Tax Returns, including those for trusts.
- Manage loss relief claims, pension charges, and capital gains tax reliefs.
- Complete CGT 60-day returns related to residential property disposals.
- Liaise with clients and HM Revenue & Customs to resolve basic tax and national insurance queries.
- Review statements of account, repayments, and payments, addressing any client queries.
- Support the tax teams with general administrative tasks and delegate duties to administrative support staff.
- Provide assistance to the wider tax team with daily tasks, including drafting tax advisory work such as Capital Gains Tax planning, Inheritance Tax, and Succession planning.
- At the Tax Senior level, review simple tax returns prepared by tax assistants.
- Plan, schedule, and delegate work to Tax Assistants, including staff development and feedback.
- Support Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager by liaising with clients, colleagues, and HMRC.

Required Qualifications

- ACCA or CA qualified, near completion, or possessing equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 26 months’ experience providing accounting services to UK clients.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing work and professional development.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence others.
- Strong numerical skills, written English proficiency, and effective team working abilities.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to expand tax knowledge.
