Junior Production Engineer – Cornwala Plant (On-Site)

As a Junior Production Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safe and efficient shift operations with zero lost time incidents. Your focus will be on the productive utilization of resources, including both personnel and machinery, while ensuring adherence to the production plan. Reporting directly to the Principal Engineer, you will oversee a team comprising Operators, Helpers, and Packers to meet shift targets and maintain quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Process Management: You will be responsible for posting shift production and dispatch data into the SAP system and managing manpower requirements to ensure smooth shift operations. Achieving shift-wise production targets in terms of both quality and quantity is essential, along with controlling product losses. You will prepare shift production reports, mark attendance for workers, review lab results, and provide operators with necessary instructions. Ensuring accurate log sheet entries and timely withdrawal of manufacturing materials from stores will also be part of your duties.

Quality Assurance: Coordination with the Shift Chemist to identify and manage in-process non-conformances is critical. You will ensure that different product grades are stored separately and verify that weighing scales are functioning correctly to maintain product quality.

Maintenance Oversight: Monitoring the performance of process equipment and ensuring its proper maintenance is a key responsibility. You will also maintain housekeeping standards in your section and liaise with the Shift Engineer of other divisions during plant shutdowns or load shedding to ensure operational continuity.

Process Improvement: You will actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by studying existing processes and implementing technological advancements. A logical and analytical approach to problem-solving and innovation in operational methods will be expected.

Safety Compliance: Ensuring the safety of products, equipment, and personnel during shifts is paramount. You will enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), oversee that all technical work is conducted under proper work permits, and deliver training sessions on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols as well as production processes.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc/B.E) with preferably over one year of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and operation of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or Sequential Logic Controllers (SLC).

Preferred Skills and Attributes

- Experience in labor management.
- Ability to troubleshoot and control plant operations effectively.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) procedures.
- Awareness of safety and environmental regulations.
