Laboratory Technician

PATSA Pakistan, Karachi is looking for a skilled Lab Technician to join its team for quality control checks and production monitoring of various products, including paints, coatings, admixtures, and cleaners. The role also involves routine testing of concrete products. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in the construction chemicals and coatings manufacturing industry and be familiar with standard laboratory testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cure, and test concrete and mortar samples (cubes/cylinders) following standard methods.
- Conduct tests such as slump, compressive strength, setting time, water absorption, and density.
- Test liquid products for viscosity, pH, specific gravity, solid content, and appearance.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and finished batches to ensure they meet specifications.
- Retain and label batch samples for future reference.
- Support R&D activities by running trial batches of new or modified formulations, comparing results with existing products, and documenting findings.
- Maintain accurate records, including test results, logbooks, and batch reports.
- Communicate test results with the Production team and immediately report any out-of-specification batches.
- Ensure lab equipment is clean, calibrated, and properly maintained; track lab chemicals and consumables.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the line manager.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Civil or Chemical Technology, or a diploma in Laboratory Technology. Candidates with a B.Sc. in Chemistry are also encouraged to apply.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Basic knowledge of lab testing procedures with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Excel and Word.
