Laboratory Technician

PATSA Pakistan, Karachi is looking for a skilled Lab Technician to support quality control and production monitoring across its range of products, including paints, coatings, admixtures, and cleaners. The role involves routine testing of concrete products to ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in the construction chemicals and coatings manufacturing sector and be comfortable working in a dynamic lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, cure, and test concrete and mortar samples such as cubes and cylinders following standard testing methods.
- Conduct various tests including slump, compressive strength, setting time, water absorption, and density measurements.
- Analyze liquid products for viscosity, pH, specific gravity, solid content, and appearance to ensure quality standards.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and finished product batches to verify they meet specifications.
- Retain and properly label batch samples for future reference and quality assurance.
- Assist in R&D activities by running trial batches of new or modified formulations, comparing results with existing products, and documenting findings.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, including logbooks and batch reports.
- Communicate test results effectively with the Production team and promptly report any batches that fall outside specification limits.
- Ensure lab equipment is clean, calibrated, and well-maintained; monitor inventory of lab chemicals and consumables.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager to support lab operations.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Civil or Chemical Technology, or a diploma in Laboratory Technology. Candidates with a B.Sc. in Chemistry will also be considered.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in construction chemicals or coatings manufacturing.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory testing procedures with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Excel and Word, for data recording and reporting.
