Hasan Suleman Memorial Hospital (HSMH), a 312-bed facility currently under development in Malir, Karachi, is set to open in December 2026. Dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, accessible, and patient-centered healthcare, HSMH is looking to recruit experienced and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologists across various specialties. Successful candidates will be integral to performing laboratory investigations, processing clinical specimens, maintaining rigorous quality standards, and delivering accurate and timely diagnostic reports within a hospital laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests according to established protocols in areas such as Hematology, Chemical Pathology, Chemical Immunology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Blood Bank.
- Receive, label, and process clinical specimens while ensuring specimen integrity and adherence to laboratory procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure precision and reliability of test results.
- Conduct internal quality control measures and maintain compliance with laboratory quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review test outcomes thoroughly, identify abnormal results, and promptly escalate critical findings to authorized medical personnel.
- Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory tests, quality control activities, equipment maintenance, and daily operational records.
- Handle, store, and dispose of specimens, reagents, and laboratory waste in accordance with biosafety and infection control protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels of reagents and consumables, reporting shortages proactively to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs), infection prevention, biosafety guidelines, and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other laboratory sections and clinical departments to support efficient workflow and timely reporting.
- Participate in laboratory audits, quality improvement projects, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (BS-MLT) from a recognized institution.
- Between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the candidate’s specialty area.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following fields: Hematology, Chemical Pathology, Chemical Immunology, Microbiology, Parasitology, or Blood Bank.
- Experience in a hospital-based or tertiary care diagnostic laboratory is preferred.
- Relevant professional registration or licensing, where applicable, will be considered an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Prior experience working in a hospital or tertiary care environment is highly desirable.
- Candidates should have the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital laboratory team.
- This is a full-time position requiring on-site presence at the hospital located in Malir, Karachi.
