The Lead – Cloud Platform Operations & Capacity at Jazz Enterprise Solutions is a senior technical role responsible for managing and evolving the cloud platform operations and capacity. This position ensures the hosted platform services remain available and performant for customers, while leading engineering efforts to upgrade, expand, and modernize the infrastructure. The environment includes enterprise virtualization, container platforms, storage, data protection, and platform networking for a multi-tenant hosted service with strict availability commitments. The role involves hands-on technical leadership in day-to-day operations, capacity planning, incident and change management, as well as overseeing major platform upgrades and expansions. Reporting to the Head of Cloud Platform (Implementation & Operations), this role does not have direct reports but collaborates closely with platform engineering and vendor partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior technical owner for cloud platform operations, capacity management, and engineering initiatives to upgrade and expand the platform estate.
- Maintain platform availability and performance in line with customer SLAs, managing incident, problem, and change processes.
- Plan and govern patching, firmware updates, and lifecycle maintenance across compute, storage, backup, and virtualization components.
- Lead technical escalation and root-cause analysis for major platform incidents.
- Maintain and update runbooks, monitoring systems, and operational documentation.
- Track and report on resource allocation and utilization (compute, memory, storage, backup) regularly.
- Forecast capacity needs and assess the impact of large customer workloads, raising constraints proactively.
- Manage technical delivery of virtualization platform upgrades, storage, backup, and compute expansions, including design, testing, cutover, rollback, and licensing.
- Support data center facility and new-site programs with platform expertise.
- Coordinate platform changes in live production with fallback plans and customer communication.
- Engage and manage OEM and professional services for complex platform work.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity to enforce identity, access, and logging controls, ensuring privileged changes comply with policies.
- Own backup, replication, and disaster recovery processes; conduct failover testing and measure recovery objectives.
- Support audit and compliance reviews, including customer and regulatory requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring quality, deliverables, and timelines are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise virtualization, private cloud, or data center infrastructure engineering, including managing production platforms with paying customers.
- Proven experience operating multi-tenant cloud or hosting platforms with availability commitments.
- Demonstrated success delivering platform migrations, upgrades, and expansions with structured rollback and testing.
- Experience collaborating with OEM professional services and support teams on complex platform projects.
- Strong technical expertise in VMware virtualization (vSphere, vCenter), container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift, enterprise storage and data protection solutions, and platform networking in multi-tenant environments.
- Knowledge of server lifecycle management, firmware, hardware compatibility, and out-of-band management.
- Familiarity with enterprise identity, access, and logging tools.
- Proficiency in monitoring, capacity planning, automation tools, and scripting to streamline operations.
- Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP/VCAP, Red Hat OpenShift, storage/backup vendor certifications, and ITIL.
- Experience supporting regulated customers, especially in financial services, with audit and availability compliance.
- Understanding of SLA frameworks and availability measurement and reporting.
- Awareness of local OEM, distributor, and partner ecosystems.
