The ESG Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the planning, execution, and reporting of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability initiatives within Descon Engineering Limited’s Industrial Services Division. This position involves coordinating ESG data collection, compliance monitoring, and reporting across various project sites and client engagements. The role ensures alignment with Descon’s corporate sustainability strategy, relevant Pakistani regulatory requirements, client ESG/HSE codes of conduct, and recognized international frameworks such as ISO 9001/14001/45001, GRI, IFRS S1 & S2, and IFC Performance Standards.
Key Responsibilities
ESG Data & Reporting:
Collect, consolidate, and validate environmental (energy, water, waste, emissions), social, and governance data from Industrial Services project sites and functions according to a defined reporting cycle. Assist in preparing periodic ESG and sustainability reports and dashboards for internal management review and corporate-level disclosures aligned with GRI and IFRS S1/S2 standards. Maintain accurate, audit-ready ESG records, registers, and documentation in compliance with Descon’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor project and site-level compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards, environmental approvals such as IEE/EIA and EPA NOCs, and client-specific HSE/ESG codes of conduct. Collaborate with Project and Site HSE teams to track the closure of ESG-related non-conformances, audit findings, and corrective actions. Support the HSE Manager in preparing for and facilitating internal, client, and third-party audits, including ISO recertification and EcoVadis assessments.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as a liaison between the Industrial Services Division, corporate Sustainability & Compliance functions, project teams, clients, and external consultants or auditors as needed. Support engagement with regulatory bodies such as Environmental Protection Agencies and labor departments on ESG matters. Assist in organizing ESG and HSE awareness sessions, toolbox talks, and training programs for site and project personnel.
Continuous Improvement & Support:
Contribute to gap assessments against ESG frameworks and client sustainability questionnaires or scorecards, helping to track and close identified gaps. Assist in supplier and subcontractor ESG screening and due diligence for the Industrial Services supply chain. Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities related to Industrial Services projects and local communities. Perform additional ESG, sustainability, or compliance-related duties as assigned by the Manager or Head of Sustainability, Compliance & HSE.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in ESG, Sustainability, QHSE, or Regulatory Compliance, preferably within EPC, industrial services, engineering, construction, or oil & gas sectors, will be preferred. Experience working on multinational client projects and familiarity with ISO management systems (9001/14001/45001) or sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks is advantageous. Fresh graduates with strong academic credentials in Environmental or Sustainability studies and relevant internship experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Internal Auditor or Awareness certification is preferred. Exposure to GRI Standards, IFRS S1/S2, IFC Performance Standards, or EcoVadis assessment methodologies is considered a plus. Strong data management and analytical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office, are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for effective report writing and coordination with cross-functional teams and clients. A working knowledge of Pakistani environmental, labor, and occupational safety and health regulations is important. Familiarity with international ESG and sustainability disclosure frameworks is desirable. The role demands a well-organized, detail-oriented individual comfortable managing multiple project sites and stakeholders, with a willingness to travel periodically to project locations as necessary.
