This role is for a senior data center presales professional specializing in enterprise data center design and infrastructure solutions. The Lead Solutions Engineer will be responsible for developing technical qualifications, engaging with customers, and translating their requirements into resilient, scalable designs. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of data center architecture, including TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III/Rated-3 standards, as well as expertise in power, cooling/HVAC, telecom infrastructure, and both active and passive components. Reporting directly to the Head of Presales – SI & Managed Services, the role involves close collaboration with Data Center design teams, facilities, ICT, OEMs, system integrators, consultants, customers, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead presales efforts for enterprise data center design and infrastructure solutions from initial requirement gathering through conceptual design, proposal development, and technical handover.
- Engage with enterprise customers to understand their business continuity, capacity, rack density, power, cooling, physical security, connectivity, expansion, and operational needs.
- Develop comprehensive data center designs covering white space, raised flooring, racks, containment, structured cabling, active/passive network infrastructure, power distribution, UPS, PDUs, generators, and related facilities.
- Apply and interpret relevant standards such as TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III / Rated-3, ensuring customer-specific compliance and design requirements are met.
- Evaluate and design cooling solutions including precision cooling, in-row, perimeter, containment-based, and high-density/liquid cooling systems.
- Develop power infrastructure concepts involving utility feeds, generators, UPS configurations, STS/ATS, PDUs, redundancy, power monitoring, and IT load distribution.
- Design telecom and structured cabling infrastructure including fiber and copper connectivity, pathways, racks, patching, and cross-connects.
- Coordinate requirements across active network, compute, storage, security, and facilities to ensure integrated data center architecture.
- Prepare architecture drawings, layouts, BoQ/BoM, technical specifications, compliance matrices, and responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP/tenders, along with presentations and technical proposals.
- Conduct customer workshops and site assessments, performing data collection, gap analysis, and technical risk identification.
- Collaborate with OEMs, distributors, system integrators, contractors, and specialist SMEs for solution validation, design input, pricing support, and technical clarifications.
- Support solution estimation, total cost of ownership discussions, phased expansion planning, and future-ready design recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in data center design, presales, consulting, or solution architecture, preferably with enterprise customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecom, Networking, Mechanical Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong practical knowledge of data center architecture and design principles, including TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III / Rated-3 concepts.
- Experience with enterprise data center projects involving active/passive components, structured cabling, racks, containment, power systems, UPS, PDUs, generators, HVAC/precision cooling, and telecom infrastructure.
- Understanding of various cooling technologies and their application in conventional and high-density IT environments.
- Ability to interpret power, cooling, rack density, connectivity, and availability requirements and translate them into integrated designs.
- Relevant certifications such as Uptime Institute, TIA-942, CDCP/CDCS/CDCE, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience working with multiple OEMs, distributors, partners, system integrators, and specialist vendors.
- Proven skills in enterprise customer engagement, technical discovery, workshops, presentations, and preparing RFI/RFQ/RFP/tender responses.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple domains including network, compute, storage, security, power, cooling, structured cabling, and telecom.
- Strong technical documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
