Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Fund Accounting & Operations Shared Services team and other fund accounting groups to centralize and communicate fund data across the organization, serving as a primary contact for internal and external inquiries.
- Aggregate, analyze, and deliver accurate fund-level data to corporate accounting, corporate finance, various Oaktree departments, and the parent company, ensuring timely submission of all deliverables.
- Support the Internal Controls Group by coordinating SOX/SOC-1 control testing and scoping activities, including organizing walkthroughs, providing valid populations, and facilitating timely testing support from fund accounting.
- Assist with corporate accounting, finance deliverables, and reporting requirements related to Brookfield.
- Manage aspects of the auditor independence process by liaising with deal teams and portfolio companies, collecting necessary documentation, documenting quarterly inquiries, preparing ad hoc analyses, and enhancing related processes.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help implement best practices across Fund Accounting teams.
- Participate in vendor oversight, coordinate accounting responses to due diligence and client requests, and support ad hoc projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting or audit experience, with 1-2 years preferably in the asset management industry.
- Strong understanding of private investment funds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong judgment and analytical abilities, with a proven track record of proactive communication, issue escalation, and sound decision-making under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Attributes
- Experience with SOX and/or SOC-1 compliance audits is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to build relationships effectively across diverse teams and gain the confidence of senior management, other departments, and third-party service providers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with a high level of attention to detail and minimal supervision when required.
- Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn new concepts, conduct research, and master new technologies.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
