The role supports UBL’s Own Impact Reduction agenda by coordinating various initiatives aimed at minimizing the Bank’s environmental footprint. This position works closely with business lines, support functions, and international operations to implement programs focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, water conservation, sustainable procurement, greenhouse gas (GHG) management, and other sustainability efforts. All activities align with UBL’s sustainability strategy and comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Bank’s Own Impact Reduction Strategy and its annual roadmap.
- Assist business units and support functions in reducing environmental impacts and enhancing resource efficiency.
- Coordinate initiatives such as energy efficiency projects, renewable energy adoption, Green Branch programs, and LED lighting conversions.
- Aid in the development and reporting of the Bank’s GHG inventory and related decarbonization efforts.
- Manage the collection, validation, and reporting of environmental data across Pakistan and GCC operations.
- Collaborate with Administration, Facilities, Procurement, IT, Operations, HR, and business units to drive sustainability initiatives.
- Support waste reduction, recycling programs, water conservation efforts, and paperless banking initiatives.
- Monitor environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in preparing reports for management, the Board, and regulatory bodies.
- Facilitate Green Branch Certification and promote environmental awareness programs within the organization.
- Identify opportunities to reduce emissions, enhance environmental performance, and achieve operational cost savings.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to advance Own Impact Reduction initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of relevant experience in sustainability, environmental management, ESG, facilities, energy management, or related fields.
- Experience in coordinating sustainability initiatives and environmental reporting is advantageous.
