Atta Chemicals (Pvt.) Limited, a well-established chemical manufacturing company since 2008, specializes in producing Sulphuric Acid, Formic Acid, Glauber's Salt, and Sodium Sulphate. The company is currently expanding its operations with a new Sulphate of Potash (SOP) manufacturing facility based on the Mannheim process. To support this growth, Atta Chemicals is seeking two experienced Mannheim Furnace Operators for its SOP plant located in Multan. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Mannheim furnaces, ensuring stable reaction conditions and consistent production quality. This role demands hands-on experience with industrial furnace operations, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor Mannheim furnaces during assigned production shifts to maintain optimal performance.
- Monitor furnace temperatures, operating conditions, material feeding rates, and reaction performance closely.
- Ensure accurate feeding of Muriate of Potash (MOP/KCl) and Sulphuric Acid according to established procedures.
- Oversee furnace heating systems and collaborate with coal gasifier operators to maintain a stable fuel gas supply.
- Monitor furnace agitators, discharge systems, and related mechanical equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions such as temperature fluctuations, material buildup, irregular discharge, and equipment malfunctions.
- Monitor HCl gas extraction and coordinate with the absorption section to maintain process efficiency.
- Assist with furnace startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures under the guidance of the Shift Engineer.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, production records, and prepare shift handover reports.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams during equipment inspections, servicing, and breakdowns.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols related to high-temperature equipment, concentrated acids, HCl gas, and combustible fuel gas.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping around furnace operating areas.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in industrial furnace operations, chemical manufacturing, fertilizer production, or similar continuous-process industries.
- Direct experience operating Mannheim furnaces or SOP production equipment is highly preferred.
- Practical knowledge of industrial furnace temperature control, material feeding, heating systems, and discharge operations.
- Familiarity with industrial pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and basic process instrumentation.
- Ability to identify operational abnormalities and perform basic troubleshooting or reporting.
- Basic understanding of industrial safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- A Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Chemical, Mechanical, or related technical disciplines is preferred; however, experienced furnace operators without formal technical qualifications are encouraged to apply.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts and follow instructions from Shift Engineers and plant management.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in:
- Mannheim-process Sulphate of Potash manufacturing.
- Industrial chemical reaction furnaces.
- Coal-gas-fired industrial furnaces or kilns.
- Continuous chemical production and process monitoring.
- Furnace commissioning, startup, and shutdown operations.
Applicants are requested to clearly specify the type of furnace previously operated, years of experience, industry background, and specific operating responsibilities in their CV. This information will assist in the evaluation of candidates’ suitability for the role.
