Mechanical Engineer – Karachi (Full-Time)
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in steel structures, metal fabrication, architectural metalwork, and both exterior and interior design-related metalworks. The ideal candidate will possess practical knowledge of steel fabrication processes and be proficient in AutoCAD, particularly in preparing and interpreting 2D technical drawings. This role requires close coordination with fabricators, vendors, contractors, and site teams to ensure projects are executed according to specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, modify, and review 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Manage and coordinate steel fabrication and installation activities.
- Interpret engineering, fabrication, structural, and architectural drawings accurately.
- Prepare measurements, material requirements, and basic Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for steel works.
- Liaise with fabricators, vendors, contractors, and site personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor fabrication and installation processes to ensure compliance with approved drawings and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits for measurements, inspections, and technical coordination.
- Identify and resolve technical issues arising during fabrication or installation phases.
- Ensure proper dimensions, alignment, finishing, workmanship, and overall quality of steel works.
- Collaborate with design and project teams regarding drawing revisions and technical requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of drawings, measurements, material needs, and site progress.
- Perform additional technical or project-related tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Practical experience with steel fabrication, steel structures, and metal works.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, especially in creating and interpreting 2D technical drawings.
- Ability to read and understand engineering, structural, and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of steel materials, sections, fabrication processes, welding, cutting, and installation techniques.
- Basic understanding of measurements, quantities, BOQs, and material estimation.
- Strong site coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with fabricators, contractors, and project teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Experience
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in steel fabrication, engineering, construction, architectural metalwork, or project-based roles.
- Candidates with direct experience in steel structures, metal fabrication, architectural metalwork, exterior works, or interior design-related metalwork will be given preference.
