The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P), a prominent not-for-profit healthcare organization under the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is seeking a dedicated Medical Officer for its Community Health Center (CHC) in Mastuj, Upper Chitral. The Medical Officer will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and preventive health services. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure effective service delivery in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care to patients, including examination, diagnosis, treatment, and emergency management.
- Conduct ward rounds, monitor patient progress, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans in accordance with approved clinical guidelines.
- Perform minor medical and surgical procedures within the scope of competency.
- Refer patients to specialists or higher-level care facilities when necessary.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate closely with consultants, senior medical staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Offer guidance and support to junior staff, contributing to their training and ongoing professional development.
- Adhere strictly to institutional policies, infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Unit Incharge or Line Manager.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree with a valid Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) license.
- 1-2 years of relevant clinical experience; fresh graduates with completed house jobs are encouraged to apply.
- Basic clinical certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Demonstrated professionalism with a strong ethical foundation and commitment to patient-centered care.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with integrity.
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
