MEP Shop Drawing Draftsman – HVAC & Plumbing

Al Rakan Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. is seeking an experienced MEP Shop Drawing Draftsman with strong expertise in preparing building MEP shop drawings, specifically in HVAC and Plumbing. The successful candidate will be responsible for converting consultant IFC/design drawings into precise, detailed, and construction-ready shop drawings for various building projects. This role demands a thorough understanding of HVAC ductwork, ventilation, chilled-water piping, plumbing water supply, and drainage systems, ensuring all drawings meet technical standards and are coordinated with architectural and structural disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed HVAC and Plumbing shop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop HVAC ductwork, ventilation, and chilled-water piping shop drawings.
- Create plumbing water supply and drainage shop drawings.
- Produce detailed plans, sections, elevations, riser diagrams, and installation details.
- Interpret consultant IFC/design drawings and translate them into accurate shop drawings.
- Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
- Identify and resolve clashes, discrepancies, and coordination issues prior to submission.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings based on approved changes and site requirements.
- Incorporate consultant comments and revise drawings with precision.
- Maintain drawing standards, including layers, dimensions, levels, annotations, symbols, and technical details.
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for construction and consultant submission.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience specifically in Building MEP Shop Drawing.
- Strong hands-on experience in HVAC and Plumbing shop drawings.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D with the ability to independently read and understand MEP IFC/design drawings.
- Experience working on building projects such as high-rise, residential, hotel, mixed-use, or commercial developments.
- Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and MEP construction practices.
- Ability to produce detailed shop drawings with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to technical details, including levels, dimensions, and drawing standards.
- UAE/Dubai project experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Dubai Municipality and DEWA requirements is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications and Important Notes

This position specifically requires expertise in Building MEP Shop Drawings. Candidates whose experience is primarily in mechanical parts drafting, machine design/drafting, manufacturing/fabrication drafting, product/CAD design, industrial equipment drafting, civil/structural drafting, oil & gas drafting, or those holding only a Mechanical Engineering degree without relevant building MEP shop drawing experience will not be considered.

A Mechanical Engineering degree alone does not qualify a candidate for this role; relevant professional experience in Building MEP Shop Drawing is mandatory.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical MEP shop-drawing test to demonstrate their AutoCAD proficiency, technical understanding, drawing accuracy, and ability to produce construction-ready drawings. Only candidates with relevant Building MEP Shop Drawing experience will be shortlisted.
