Mid-Level Java Developer

Join Telenor Shared Services Pakistan as a Mid-Level Java Developer and become part of a dynamic, inclusive, and international technology environment. In this role, you will design and develop scalable backend applications and services using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, databases, and cloud platforms. You will work closely with architects, DevOps engineers, integration specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions that support the organization’s finance and procurement services. This position is based in Islamabad and reports to the Director of the Automation Hub.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient microservices following approved architecture and coding standards.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs and support system-to-system integrations.
- Write clean, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, performing data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
- Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment and operations in Kubernetes environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, conduct code reviews, participate in release activities, and provide monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver solutions using Agile methodologies.
- Apply secure development practices to continuously improve application quality, reliability, and performance.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical discussions, and retrospectives.
- Investigate application logs, alerts, incidents, and performance issues, implementing sustainable fixes.
- Maintain technical documentation, API specifications, deployment notes, and operational runbooks.
- Coordinate with architects, QA, DevOps, integration teams, and business stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience, including hands-on Java development in production environments. Equivalent practical experience with demonstrated capability may also be considered.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and development of RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including containerization, configuration, deployment, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL; exposure to NoSQL databases is advantageous.
- Experience developing or operating applications on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, OCI, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Git-based development, CI/CD practices, automated testing, logging, and monitoring.
- Experience with enterprise integration or middleware projects is preferred, particularly in API integration, asynchronous messaging, event-driven solutions, or enterprise integration platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Core development skills in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean-code principles.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployments, services, configuration, secrets management, health checks, application logs, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL; NoSQL experience is a plus.
- Experience with cloud and DevOps tools including Git, Maven or Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and application monitoring.
- Understanding of integration and middleware technologies, including Kafka, authentication standards, and integration patterns.
- Commitment to quality and security through unit and integration testing, debugging, performance tuning, secure coding, and code reviews.
- Agile delivery mindset with ownership, customer focus, teamwork, and clear communication of technical topics.
