Mid-Level PHP/Magento 2 Developer

We are seeking a Mid-Level PHP/Magento 2 Developer to join our team and provide development, bug fixes, and technical support for our Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) platform during the night shift. This role is hands-on and involves building new features, resolving defects, and addressing production issues to ensure continuous engineering coverage outside of regular day-shift hours.

Key Responsibilities

Development
- Design, build, and maintain custom Magento 2 modules, plugins, observers, and GraphQL/REST endpoints.
- Deliver feature tickets and enhancements from analysis through deployment.
- Work on checkout, order, shipping, refund, and payment gateway flows.

Fixes & Technical Support
- Investigate and resolve bugs and production issues reported during the shift.
- Prioritize and address P1/P2 tickets immediately, ensuring progress within agreed SLAs.
- Provide technical support to internal teams regarding platform issues and escalate to the Backend Team Lead with documented findings when senior input is required.

Code Quality
- Adhere to team conventions for branching, commits, and pull requests, ensuring all CI checks (PHPStan, PHPCS, code review) are passed.
- Submit only ready-to-merge pull requests during deployment windows.

Ticket Management & Process
- Manage tickets in Jira according to the Development Process SLA, including initial assessment comments, required fields, status updates, and end-of-day summaries.
- Focus on one ticket at a time and log time accurately using Time Doctor.

Handover & Collaboration
- Provide clear end-of-shift handovers for the day team, detailing completed work, open items, and areas needing attention.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, and frontend teams to verify fixes and support post-live testing.

Required Qualifications

- 3 to 5 years of professional PHP development experience, including at least 2 years working hands-on with Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce).
- Proficiency in custom module development, including plugins, observers, preferences, dependency injection, and service contracts.
- Experience with checkout, order, shipping, refund flows, and payment gateway integration.
- Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs within Magento 2.
- Skilled in MySQL query writing, indexing, and troubleshooting slow queries.
- Familiarity with Git, Composer, and Docker-based local development environments.
- Experience working with static analysis tools and coding standards such as PHPStan and PHPCS, along with CI pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code and Claude Cowork.
- Ability to independently debug production issues using logs and perform efficiently under time pressure.
- Clear written English skills for Jira comments and shift handovers.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience with Adyen payment integration.
- Knowledge of multi-store or multi-currency Magento setups.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Redis, and Varnish.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Working Hours

- Night shift from 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM PKT, Monday to Friday.
- Occasional extended hours during go-lives and critical incidents.
- Rotational weekend shifts with compensatory time off.
