Mobile App Development Intern

Grupo Island, a UK-based organisation operating in education, vocational training, software development, and digital services, is seeking a motivated Mobile App Development Intern to join their expanding technical team in Lahore. This full-time paid internship, lasting between 3 to 6 months, offers an excellent opportunity for students, fresh graduates, and aspiring developers to gain hands-on experience working on real-world mobile application projects. The role involves collaborating with experienced professionals to develop, test, and maintain mobile apps while enhancing technical skills in a supportive environment. Immediate start is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining mobile applications for Android and/or iOS platforms.
- Support the implementation of user-friendly mobile interfaces.
- Write clean, organized, and maintainable code under senior developers’ guidance.
- Participate in testing, debugging, and resolving application issues.
- Collaborate with the team to implement new features and improve existing functionality.
- Ensure applications perform well across various devices and screen sizes.
- Assist with API integration and backend service connectivity.
- Learn to work with databases, authentication systems, and third-party services.
- Participate in code reviews and team development meetings.
- Work alongside UI/UX designers and web developers to implement application designs.
- Research new mobile development technologies and best practices.
- Help prepare applications for testing and deployment.

Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of programming concepts and logical problem-solving.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Dart, Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Python.
- Basic understanding of mobile applications and their functionality.
- Willingness to learn new frameworks, tools, and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience or familiarity with any of the following is advantageous but not mandatory: Flutter and Dart, React Native, Android development using Kotlin or Java, iOS development using Swift, Firebase and other backend services, REST APIs and JSON, Git and GitHub, mobile UI/UX principles, testing and debugging mobile applications, and development environments such as Android Studio, Visual Studio Code, or Xcode. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not know all these technologies, as a strong foundation in programming fundamentals and enthusiasm to develop practical skills are most important.

This internship offers a paid stipend ranging from Rs20,000 to Rs50,000 per month, depending on skills and suitability. Interns will gain hands-on experience with real-world projects, receive mentoring from experienced team members, and learn modern mobile development frameworks and tools. The role provides exposure to professional software development practices within a collaborative on-site working environment in Lahore. There is also potential for consideration for a permanent position based on performance and business needs.
