The Mobile Product Engineer at KnowledgeCity is responsible for the complete ownership of all KnowledgeCity mobile applications on both iOS and Android platforms. Working within an AI-native framework, this role manages the mobile experience end-to-end—from discovery and specification through engineering, testing, app submission, release, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Unlike traditional mobile developer roles, this position requires autonomous ownership of the entire mobile delivery pipeline, including store accounts, signing, submission, and post-release support. The ideal candidate is a proactive, clear communicator who ensures every app remains live, up-to-date, and highly rated, treating any issues or user feedback as their own to resolve.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Mobile Ownership: Take full accountability for all KnowledgeCity mobile apps, including KC Safety, KC LMS, and upcoming suite apps. Manage app health, store presence, user ratings, and release quality.
- App Store & Google Play Release Management: Handle the entire store submission process, including developer accounts, certificates, provisioning profiles, signing keys, TestFlight and Play testing tracks, store listings, screenshots, privacy disclosures, and submission. Resolve review rejections independently without escalation.
- AI Agent Orchestration: Lead AI agents across disciplines such as development, QA, UX design, DevOps, documentation, and architecture to design, build, test, and document features. Critically review all AI-generated outputs before release.
- Cross-Platform & Native Engineering: Develop and maintain apps using React Native or Flutter, supplemented by native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) expertise for platform-specific features like push notifications, deep links, offline sync, biometrics, and permissions. Ensure compatibility with new OS versions and store SDK requirements.
- Platform Integration: Integrate mobile apps with the KnowledgeCity platform, including User Directory SSO, role-based access, product APIs, notifications, and analytics. Coordinate closely with Product Engineers to align mobile releases with web and backend updates.
- Production Ownership & Post-Release Validation: Validate every release on real devices within one hour of going live, covering core user journeys and edge cases. Monitor crashes, ANRs, performance, and store metrics continuously. Use phased rollouts and be prepared to halt or roll back releases if stability is compromised.
- Store Ratings & User Feedback: Monitor app reviews, ratings, and crash reports daily. Respond to users promptly, prioritize recurring issues, and ensure no outages or unanswered reviews go unnoticed.
- Release Governance & Documentation: Maintain a predictable release cadence with clear notes, version tracking, and rollback readiness. Provide user guides, release notes, and operational runbooks alongside every release.
- Sprint Rhythm & Stakeholder Communication: Plan and run weekly sprints with clear user outcomes, submit sprint goals before reviews, and mark completion status with explanations. Communicate proactively with the Head of Product, highlighting risks, rejections, and blockers along with proposed solutions.
- Continuous Improvement & Backlog Ownership: Maintain and prioritize a mobile backlog derived from store reviews, crash analytics, support tickets, usage data, and product roadmaps based on user impact and business value.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mobile app development experience, with personally shipped and maintained apps on both Apple App Store and Google Play.
- Proven track record of end-to-end store release ownership, including managing developer accounts, code signing, provisioning, TestFlight and Play testing, submission, and handling review rejections.
- Strong expertise in React Native or Flutter, alongside native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin) development.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with SSO/OAuth, REST APIs, push notification services (APNs/FCM), and analytics or crash-reporting tools such as Firebase Crashlytics or Sentry.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to critically assess AI-generated code for production readiness.
- Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar) and automated device testing.
- Demonstrated production ownership, including crash triage, phased rollouts, hotfixes, and post-release validation on real devices.
