Network Engineer - Mid Level

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer (Level 2) to join our Managed Services Provider (MSP) team supporting enterprise clients worldwide. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Cisco and Palo Alto security and networking technologies. This role focuses on managing and supporting multi-vendor enterprise network and security infrastructures across diverse client environments. The position requires working onsite in Islamabad with shift timings from 8 PM to 5 AM.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and manage Cisco and Palo Alto network and security devices deployed across global client infrastructures.
- Monitor network performance and proactively troubleshoot to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Analyze network traffic and utilization patterns to enhance network efficiency, performance, and scalability.
- Respond promptly to network outages, security incidents, and service requests in line with SLA requirements.
- Support on-premises and cloud network integrations within hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control mechanisms.
- Perform software upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance on network and security appliances.
- Participate in incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Collaborate with internal teams to design, implement, and improve network infrastructure and security posture.
- Maintain accurate network documentation such as topology diagrams, configuration backups, operational procedures, and audit records.
- Ensure timely completion of support tickets, operational tasks, and change requests following defined processes.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in network and security operations, preferably within an MSP or multi-client environment.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.
- Proven ability to manage and troubleshoot complex multi-site network environments.
- Experience working in 24x7x365 operational environments.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for network and security incidents.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Expertise

- Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower (FTD), Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco networking devices.
- Solid knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 high availability technologies.
- Experience with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- In-depth understanding of Site-to-Site VPN and Remote Access VPN technologies.
- Strong grasp of AAA and authentication protocols including TACACS+ and RADIUS.
- Experience with Cisco ISE, Cisco Umbrella, and network access control solutions.
- Exposure to virtualization technologies and SD-WAN architectures.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, logging, and security tools.

Certifications

Candidates must hold at least one of the following certifications:
- CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security
- PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)
- Equivalent advanced networking or security certification

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
- Exposure to multi-tenant network environments.
- Familiarity with change management, incident response, and ITIL-based service delivery processes.
