Network + Security Engineer

This role involves designing, configuring, and maintaining LAN and VPN infrastructures to ensure robust and secure network operations. The successful candidate will manage and monitor network performance, availability, and security across various devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Mikrotik. The position requires implementing and enforcing network security policies, performing capacity planning and upgrades, and collaborating closely with DevOps teams to support seamless operational workflows. Additionally, the role demands providing technical support and root cause analysis for escalated network issues, participating in disaster recovery planning, and maintaining comprehensive network documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure, and maintain LAN and VPN infrastructures to support organizational needs.
- Manage and monitor network performance, availability, and security to ensure optimal operation.
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from multiple vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Mikrotik.
- Implement and enforce network security policies including ACLs, IPS/IDS, VLANs, and VPNs to safeguard network integrity.
- Conduct regular network capacity planning, tuning, and system upgrades to maintain efficiency and scalability.
- Monitor network traffic and performance using tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, and PRTG.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of network services.
- Provide technical support, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve escalated network issues promptly.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to enhance network resilience.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, device configurations, and inventory records.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining LAN and VPN infrastructures.
- Strong knowledge of network devices and technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Mikrotik, or similar vendors.
- Hands-on expertise in implementing network security policies such as ACLs, IPS/IDS, VLANs, and VPNs.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools including Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, and PRTG.
- Experience in network capacity planning, performance tuning, and system upgrades.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and provide effective root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and network resilience strategies.
- Excellent documentation skills for maintaining network diagrams, configurations, and inventories.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly DevOps.
