Nursing Superintendent

Awadh General Hospital, located in Landhi, Karachi, is seeking a qualified and experienced Nursing Superintendent to oversee and lead all nursing services within the hospital. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring clinical safety, and managing nursing staff effectively. Key Responsibilities

Nursing Administration & Supervision:
- Manage and supervise all nursing services throughout the hospital.
- Lead nursing staff, including nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring adequate coverage across departments.
- Prepare and manage duty rosters and shift schedules.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, discipline, and professional conduct.
- Evaluate nursing staff performance and recommend training or corrective actions as necessary.

Patient Care & Clinical Management:
- Ensure delivery of quality nursing care and maintain patient safety standards.
- Supervise nursing activities in critical areas such as ICU, NICU, Emergency, Operation Theatre, Gynae Ward, and General Wards.
- Oversee proper patient monitoring, medication administration, and accurate nursing documentation.
- Facilitate effective shift handovers and takeovers.
- Address nursing-related patient complaints and escalate serious issues appropriately.

Infection Control & Safety:
- Implement infection prevention and control policies hospital-wide.
- Monitor sterilization processes, hand hygiene compliance, and biomedical waste management.
- Ensure adherence to hospital safety protocols.
- Oversee maintenance of emergency equipment and nursing supplies.

Training & Staff Development:
- Organize orientation and training programs for new nursing staff.
- Conduct regular training sessions and performance assessments.
- Promote continuous education to improve nursing practices.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and professional growth among nursing staff.

Reporting & Coordination:
- Coordinate with the Medical Director, hospital administration, doctors, and departmental heads.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly nursing performance reports.
- Report staff shortages, clinical incidents, and operational issues promptly.
- Work closely with HR on nursing recruitment, attendance, leave management, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in hospital inspections, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- BSc Nursing, Post-RN BSN, or an equivalent recognized nursing qualification.
- Valid registration with the relevant nursing regulatory authority.
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, including supervisory or managerial roles.
- Experience managing nursing services in ICU, NICU, Emergency, Operation Theatre, and General Wards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and staff management skills.
- Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and nursing standards.
- Proficient in documentation, reporting, and administrative tasks.
