This position involves supporting nutrition programming and community health initiatives aimed at improving maternal, infant, and young child nutrition. The role requires active participation in delivering nutrition interventions, managing community outreach activities, and maintaining accurate records to ensure effective service delivery. The candidate will work closely with community volunteers and health workers to promote good nutrition practices and ensure adherence to established protocols and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of nutrition interventions including MUAC screening, growth monitoring, IYCF counseling, and supplementation distribution.
- Support the setup and management of nutrition corners, community sessions, and mobile outreach activities.
- Conduct household visits, awareness sessions, and community mobilization efforts to promote nutrition best practices.
- Share key messages on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN/IYCF) with beneficiaries and community members.
- Coordinate with community volunteers and health workers to facilitate nutrition-related activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date beneficiary records, registers, and attendance sheets.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all beneficiaries and nutrition services.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly activity reports for program monitoring.
- Communicate field observations and challenges to supervisors promptly for timely resolution.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality protocols in all nutrition services.
- Follow infection prevention and control measures consistently during all activities.
- Manage and report the usage of supplies such as MUAC tapes, supplements, and educational materials safely and responsibly.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in nutrition programming or community health work.
- Knowledge of basic nutrition concepts and community health practices.
- Experience working with NGOs or community-based programs is considered an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience in community mobilization and health education is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
