We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our Optometry Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive eye care, including refraction, diagnosis, treatment, and management of various ocular conditions. This role requires expertise in advanced refractive procedures, contact lens fitting, low vision rehabilitation, and ocular disease management. The Optometrist will also oversee the daily operations of the refraction unit and collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform simple and cycloplegic refraction using various cycloplegic agents as needed.
- Prescribe advanced spectacle lenses, including progressive, aspheric, and safety/protective glasses tailored to patient needs.
- Conduct advanced refractive correction procedures when required.
- Assess low vision patients and provide rehabilitative services and vision aids to enhance functional vision.
- Prescribe and fit rigid and soft contact lenses, including frequent replacement and extended wear lenses.
- Manage complex contact lens fittings for pediatric cases, keratoconus, post-surgical complications, eye trauma, and corneal ectasia. Utilize rigid gas permeable corneal/scleral lenses and non-invasive corneal cross-linking for progressive keratoconus.
- Manage progressive myopia through optical, pharmacological, and contact lens interventions such as orthokeratology.
- Examine, diagnose, manage, and prevent diseases and disorders of the visual system and eye, referring patients to specialists when necessary.
- Use observation, instruments, and pharmaceutical agents to detect ocular diseases and binocular vision abnormalities; refer to ophthalmologists for medical or surgical treatment as required.
- Supervise the refraction unit, managing daily activities and staff including ophthalmic technicians, opticians, and clinical technologists.
- Diagnose ocular manifestations of systemic diseases like hypertension and diabetes, and refer patients to appropriate physicians or endocrinologists.
- Prescribe vision therapy, training, or orthoptic exercises for children with learning difficulties or binocular vision disorders such as strabismus and amblyopia.
- Provide pre- and post-surgical care for cataracts, refractive laser treatments, retinal conditions, and other relevant surgeries.
- Advise on and perform diagnostic tests including B-Scan, FFA, OCT, Perimetry, and Corneal Topography, interpreting results clinically.
- Manage ocular emergencies effectively.
- Lead and participate in community eye camps, health promotion activities, screening programs, blindness surveys, and clinical research projects.
- Operate optometry clinics independently or within public sector hospital OPDs.
- Remove foreign bodies from the anterior segment, perform suture removal, syringing, probing, and related procedures.
- Counsel and educate patients on eye health, vision care, and lifestyle choices to maintain and improve vision.
- Provide visual status certification when required.
- Report periodically to senior management on patient workload and ongoing research activities.
- Undertake any additional assignments as directed by the institute.

Required Qualifications

- Degree in Optometry from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience in refraction, contact lens fitting, and management of ocular diseases.
- Proficiency in advanced diagnostic procedures and interpretation of ocular imaging.
- Strong clinical skills in managing pediatric and complex eye conditions.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience with corneal cross-linking and orthokeratology is highly desirable.
- Prior involvement in community outreach, research, and health promotion activities will be an advantage.
