Oracle Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our JBS Consulting team in Karachi. This role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle database systems across development, testing, and production environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for database upgrades, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and security to ensure system reliability and optimal performance. This is a full-time, onsite position.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Oracle database systems in development, testing, and production environments.
- Perform core database upgrades and manage Oracle APEX installation and configuration.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard.
- Monitor database health, conduct proactive performance tuning, and resolve bottlenecks.
- Support high availability and disaster recovery architectures including Oracle RAC, ASM, and standby databases.
- Enforce database security through role-based access control, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using Shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Conduct root cause analysis of database incidents and resolve issues within agreed timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, operational processes, procedures, and policies.
- Contribute to database architecture design and participate in large-scale rollout and implementation projects.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless database integration, stability, and performance.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Oracle database administration.
- Strong command of Oracle Database environments, including versions 11g, 12c, 19c, and 21c.
- Proficiency in database administration, backup and recovery, SQL performance tuning, and job automation.
- Hands-on experience with RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, and ASM.
- Experience with Oracle APEX installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and Shell scripting.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
- Understanding of database security, access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
