ACE Money Transfer Limited Ireland is seeking an experienced Payment Operations Manager to lead and oversee the entire payment lifecycle. This role is essential in ensuring that payment operations remain secure, efficient, resilient, and compliant with regulatory standards, including the Central Bank of Ireland’s Operational Resilience guidance. The successful candidate will be a subject-matter expert in payment processing, pay-in and pay-out operations, and alternative payment methods. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will strengthen controls, enhance operational performance, and ensure the safe and reliable movement of customer funds. Reporting directly to the COO within the Operations department, this position offers significant exposure to cross-border payments, provider management, and EU regulatory frameworks, with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Payment Operations Oversight:
Manage payment processes across various pay-in channels such as cards, bank transfers, and alternative payment methods. Oversee internal reviews, reconciliations, and pay-out partner settlements. Maintain robust operational controls by identifying risks and implementing effective mitigations. Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-risk payment issues.

Payment Performance & Reporting:
Analyze transaction trends, failure and decline patterns, provider performance, and corridor data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Develop and maintain dashboards tracking payment success rates, exceptions, reconciliation breaks, and provider performance by corridor. Present insights and actionable recommendations to senior management. Collaborate with IT and Product teams to optimize payment routing, provider integrations, and operational workflows for reliability and cost efficiency. Monitor provider fees and processing costs to support commercial optimization.

Partner & Provider Management:
Act as the operational liaison for payment service providers and banking partners, ensuring adherence to service levels and operating procedures. Stay informed on emerging payment methods, provider capabilities, and regional payment developments to inform ACE’s payment operations strategy.

Governance, Compliance & Resilience:
Ensure compliance with PCI requirements, AML/CFT standards, safeguarding obligations, and regulatory expectations. Lead operational resilience activities aligned with CBI guidance, including scenario testing, incident response planning, dependency mapping, and control strengthening. Manage payment-related incidents through root cause analysis, remediation oversight, and stakeholder communication. Support audits, regulatory reviews, and internal assurance activities.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement:
Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, straight-through processing (STP), and commercial performance. Develop and maintain clear procedures, controls, and documentation for payment operations. Produce and review management information (MI) and KPIs related to payment performance, risk, and partner effectiveness. Lead and coach team members involved in payment processing, reconciliation, and review.

Required Qualifications

A degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field is essential. Candidates should have 5–8 years of experience in payment operations, payments, or reconciliation roles within banking, fintech, payment service providers, or remittance sectors. A strong understanding of payment operations in money transfer, fintech, PSP, or financial services environments is required. Experience managing high-volume transaction flows, reconciliation, operational controls, and payment provider performance is necessary. Proven ability to analyze large transaction datasets and translate insights into operational improvements is expected. Familiarity with regulatory, PCI, and operational resilience requirements, including CBI guidance, is critical. Experience supporting audits, regulatory engagements, and compliance reviews is also required. People management or team leadership experience is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Strong risk and control orientation with a focus on regulatory and resilience expectations is important. Candidates should demonstrate analytical and strategic thinking, moving proactively from data analysis to root cause identification and action. Excellent communication and influencing skills are needed to engage stakeholders across functions and senior management. The role requires effective cross-functional collaboration with IT, Product, Compliance, Finance teams, and external partners. Payment operations expertise and the ability to guide others through complex payment issues are highly valued. Leadership skills to coach and develop team members and foster a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement are preferred.
