We are seeking a detail-oriented Petty Cash Accountant to manage and maintain the organization's petty cash funds. This role involves ensuring accurate recording of all transactions, proper documentation, adherence to company policies, and timely reporting to the Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1–2 years of experience in accounts or petty cash handling and will be based in Karachi, Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
Petty Cash Management:
Maintain and safeguard assigned petty cash funds while processing payments in accordance with approved company policies. Ensure that all petty cash expenses are supported by original bills and vouchers. Verify necessary approvals before disbursing any petty cash amounts.
Record Keeping & Documentation:
Accurately record all petty cash transactions on a daily basis. Maintain organized filing of receipts, vouchers, and supporting documents. Prepare regular petty cash reconciliation statements and ensure no unauthorized or incomplete transactions are processed.
Reconciliation & Reporting:
Conduct periodic reconciliation of petty cash balances and submit replenishment requests with complete documentation. Prepare monthly summaries of petty cash expenses for management review. Assist during internal and external audits related to petty cash.
Compliance & Control:
Ensure strict compliance with company financial policies and procedures. Report any discrepancies or shortages immediately to the Finance Manager. Take proactive measures to prevent misuse or mismanagement of petty cash funds.
Coordination:
Collaborate with various departments to verify petty cash expenses. Provide assistance to the Accounts team with day-to-day accounting tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. Candidates should have a basic understanding of accounting principles and be proficient in MS Excel and accounting software.
Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess a high level of integrity and trustworthiness. Good numerical and reconciliation skills are required, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Effective time management and organizational skills are also important.
