We are looking for a skilled Planning & Design Expert (Power) to oversee the planning, design, and technical evaluation of power-related projects within our motorway zones. This role involves ensuring that all power systems—including solar installations, diesel generators, UPS, batteries, and low-voltage panels—are designed and implemented to meet operational needs, safety standards, and industry best practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing power systems for efficiency and reliability while coordinating closely with various internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning and design of power systems for toll plazas, covering solar systems, LV panels, diesel generators, UPS, batteries, and power protection devices. Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments to inform system planning and design. Develop detailed technical specifications, layout drawings, and system designs for both new installations and upgrades. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and operational requirements.

Collaborate with operations and maintenance (O&M), procurement, and project execution teams to ensure designs are practical and maintainable. Optimize power systems focusing on energy efficiency, load management, and overall reliability. Assess existing power systems to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements or upgrades. Support commissioning, testing, and validation processes for newly installed or upgraded power systems.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of power system designs, standards, and best practices. Provide technical guidance and training to power technicians and O&M staff on system design, operation, and preventive maintenance. Liaise with external entities such as DISCOs, WAPDA, and equipment vendors for design approvals, coordination, and technical support.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems is essential. Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in power system planning, design, or operations and maintenance for infrastructure projects. Practical, hands-on experience with power system installation, operation, and optimization is required. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, train personnel, and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders is critical.

Required Skills

Proficiency in designing power systems including Solar PV, LV Panels, Diesel Generators, UPS, Batteries, and power protection systems. Strong expertise in fault detection and rectification across transformers, generators, cabling, solar systems, and UPS units. Skilled in preparing technical drawings, performing load calculations, and developing energy distribution plans. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and operational requirements for power systems is necessary. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills, along with the ability to communicate technical guidance clearly to teams and stakeholders, are essential.
