GAO Group and Aperture Venture Studio are seeking recent PhD graduates and early-career researchers for a full-time, paid Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). This remote role offers a one-year appointment with the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research on IoT systems, intelligent connected devices, edge computing, sensing, and AI-enabled technologies. Successful candidates will have the chance to develop practical prototypes, applications, and explore potential commercialization avenues. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a Postdoctoral Program Certificate, with possible extensions or transitions to longer-term research or technical roles depending on performance and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research in IoT and AI-enabled IoT systems, focusing on emerging technologies and architectures.
- Design, develop, and test IoT prototypes and proof-of-concept systems involving sensors, connected devices, gateways, and edge/cloud platforms.
- Explore AI and machine learning applications for data generated by IoT devices.
- Perform experiments to evaluate system performance and develop technical demonstrations for real-world use cases.
- Contribute to research publications, technical reports, and other scholarly outputs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including researchers, engineers, and industry professionals.
- Investigate technology development and commercialization opportunities related to AI and IoT innovations.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or final-year PhD candidate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IoT, Robotics, AI/ML, Embedded Systems, or a closely related STEM discipline.
- Strong expertise in IoT technologies combined with working knowledge of AI principles and methods.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and C/C++, and familiarity with embedded systems, sensors, wireless communications, and IoT platforms.
- Understanding of edge and cloud computing environments, as well as related technologies such as computer vision, digital twins, or robotics.
