Power BI Developer

DataGraders is seeking a skilled Power BI Developer with 2 to 4 years of experience to join its Data & Analytics team in Lahore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire Power BI development lifecycle, including connecting directly to source systems, extracting and transforming data, building data models, developing dashboards, and optimizing performance. Hands-on experience with direct data integration from source systems is essential for this role. This position requires a proactive individual who can work closely with business and technical teams to deliver insightful and scalable analytical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Connect Power BI directly to various source systems, databases, APIs, ERP applications, and other enterprise platforms.
- Analyze source system structures to independently identify and extract relevant data for reporting purposes.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries to support data extraction and reporting needs.
- Perform data transformation, cleansing, and preparation using Power Query / M.
- Build efficient and scalable data models employing dimensional modeling and star schema techniques.
- Create business calculations and KPIs using DAX.
- Gather and translate business requirements into effective analytical solutions.
- Configure Row-Level Security (RLS) and manage data access controls.
- Publish and manage reports, semantic models, datasets, and workspaces within Power BI Service.
- Configure and troubleshoot data gateways and scheduled data refreshes.
- Identify and resolve issues related to data extraction, integration, refresh, performance, and reporting.
- Optimize Power BI reports and data models for enhanced performance and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with customers, functional consultants, data engineers, and other technical teams.
- Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions as needed.

Required Qualifications

- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development.
- Proficiency with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Mandatory hands-on experience connecting directly to source systems and extracting data.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently query databases.
- Experience integrating data from databases, APIs, ERP/business applications, and other enterprise systems.
- Advanced knowledge of DAX for business calculations and KPIs.
- Strong expertise in Power Query / M for data transformation.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and star schema design.
- Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Familiarity with Power BI gateways, scheduled refreshes, workspace management, and deployment processes.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot data and integration issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage both business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Exposure to Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience extracting and reporting data from SAP or other ERP systems.
- Background in consulting or customer-facing analytics projects is a plus.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Lahore. Candidates should be comfortable working from the DataGraders office.
