Principal Software Engineer - Backend

Dubizzle Labs is expanding its Pakistan office, currently home to over 400 professionals, and is seeking experienced back-end engineers who are passionate about learning, performing, and mentoring others. Key Responsibilities

- Quickly develop a deep understanding of the Dubizzle codebase and technology stack within the first few weeks.
- Lead planning sessions for new product features, including detailed roll-out and roll-back strategies for releases.
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate relevant advancements into daily work.
- Write and maintain high-quality, exemplary code following Dubizzle’s programming standards.
- Create unit tests and ensure comprehensive test coverage for assigned work.
- Actively participate in post-release maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Design elegant, scalable solutions for complex technical challenges.
- Drive improvements in the reliability and efficiency of existing codebases, platforms, and core systems.
- Influence the technical vision and direction within your area of responsibility.
- Mentor team members in a peer programming environment, providing guidance regardless of task complexity.
- Conduct thorough code reviews on major pull requests, establish programming standards, and offer constructive feedback.
- Design and deliver multiple RESTful APIs with experience in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Evaluate and push back on incomplete or unclear requirements to ensure quality outcomes.
- Manage the entire software development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
- Lead product planning meetings and architect solutions within your technical stream.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in back-end software engineering, with a strong preference for Python expertise.
- Proven experience working with cloud-hosted infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker is highly desirable.
- Experience developing and maintaining high-traffic, large-scale web applications.
- Strong background in web infrastructure, distributed systems, SOA, performance analysis, and search infrastructure.
- Firsthand experience in high-pressure “death march” projects, with a clear understanding of pitfalls to avoid.
- Deep knowledge of design patterns including asynchronous programming, queuing, logging, security, and data persistence.
- Expertise in caching strategies and technologies, including memcached.
- Solid understanding of build process management and continuous integration pipelines.
- Mastery of testing methodologies, including unit, component, and integration testing.
