The Senior Lead Software Engineer (Grade F) – Full Stack & AI is a highly experienced technical leader with over 15 years in the industry. This role focuses on designing, developing, and managing comprehensive digital solutions that blend modern full-stack development with AI and Generative AI capabilities. The position may include line management responsibilities, co-leading delivery efforts alongside Product Owners, and owning the full application lifecycle. Alternatively, it can be a specialist individual contributor role, providing deep technical expertise, mentorship, and guidance within specific technology domains.
Key Responsibilities
Full Stack Engineering:
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end applications using frontend technologies such as React or other modern JavaScript frameworks, alongside backend systems built with Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and microservices. Develop secure, scalable, and resilient services following clean code principles and engineering best practices. Lead code reviews, optimize performance, and troubleshoot complex technical challenges. Ensure adherence to secure coding standards, resilience patterns, and non-functional requirements.
AI & Intelligent Solutions:
Design and implement AI-enabled features, including Generative AI and large language model (LLM) integrations, intelligent automation, and agent-based workflows. Collaborate closely with machine learning and AI engineers and architects to embed models into production systems. Apply model evaluation, monitoring, and optimization techniques to ensure reliable and effective outcomes. Assess when AI solutions are appropriate compared to rules-based alternatives, focusing on pragmatic and cost-effective designs.
Architecture & Technical Leadership:
Contribute to solution and technical architecture aligned with enterprise standards. Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and platforms to improve delivery quality and speed. Support architecture governance by producing design documentation and participating in review sessions. Mentor engineering teams and promote engineering excellence across the organization.
DevOps, Quality & Delivery:
Implement DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines covering build, test, and deployment stages. Ensure solutions are production-ready, observable, and maintainable. Take ownership of application health, technical risk, and operational stability. Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in full stack development with strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot backend technologies.
- Frontend development expertise using React or equivalent modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Solid understanding of API-first and microservices-based architectures.
- Experience with cloud-native development principles.
- Strong Python skills for AI integration and automation tasks.
- Proven experience deploying machine learning or Generative AI models in production environments.
- Knowledge of model evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI platforms and services.
- Proficient in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
- Deep understanding of secure coding practices and application security principles.
- Expertise in performance optimization, resilience, and reliability engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including technical authority, mentoring, sound decision-making, and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Accountability for delivery outcomes and maintaining technical health.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in regulated or enterprise environments is highly valued. Exposure to AI agents, automation platforms, or intelligent workflow systems is desirable. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure is beneficial. Participation in architecture governance forums is a plus.
