Principal Software Engineer

vFairs is looking for a Principal Software Engineer with extensive experience in web technologies to lead key technical projects, mentor development teams, and design scalable software solutions. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive innovation, set best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, high-performance web applications across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Architect and design scalable web applications and microservices. Lead technical decision-making and establish coding standards. Mentor development teams on best practices and emerging technologies. Participate in technical interviews and contribute to hiring decisions. Continuously research and implement new technologies to drive innovation.

Development & Engineering: Develop and maintain high-performance web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, React, or Angular. Design and implement robust backend APIs with Laravel/PHP and related technologies. Write and optimize complex MySQL queries and database schemas. Build responsive and accessible front-end components using HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS frameworks. Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

System Design & Performance: Architect scalable, maintainable, and performant web solutions. Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and user experience. Design and implement caching strategies and performance monitoring. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness. Apply security best practices and data protection measures.

Process & Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies. Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback. Implement version control best practices and branching strategies. Define and monitor key performance indicators for web applications. Troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical support.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements. Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences. Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning. Document technical decisions, architecture, and implementation details.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 8 years of progressive experience in full-stack web development.
- At least 3 years in a senior or lead technical role with team leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record of delivering complex web applications at scale.
- Expert-level proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
- Deep experience with Vue.js, React, or Angular, preferably multiple frameworks.
- Strong backend development skills with Laravel/PHP and RESTful API design.
- Advanced knowledge of MySQL optimization, complex queries, and schema design.
- Familiarity with modern build tools such as Webpack or Vite and package managers.
- Experience designing and implementing microservices and distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of web performance optimization and security best practices (OWASP, authentication, authorization).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in Git workflows, branching strategies, and version control best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time web applications.
- Knowledge of WebRTC, WebSockets, and real-time communication protocols.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring tools such as New Relic or Datadog.
- Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities.
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and internationalization.
- Understanding of SEO best practices and web analytics.
- Experience with progressive web apps (PWA) and mobile web development.
