We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer (.NET) with 8 to 10 years of extensive experience in software development to join our team on-site in Islamabad, Pakistan. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications using Microsoft technologies and Azure. This role requires a strong technical background combined with leadership skills to guide development teams, contribute to solution architecture, and make critical technical decisions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to build scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a cross-functional development team by providing technical guidance, mentoring team members, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Oversee end-to-end software development activities including requirement analysis, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. Actively contribute to the codebase by implementing key features, conducting code reviews, and resolving complex technical challenges.
Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Design and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable application architectures following industry best practices, architectural principles, and design patterns. Provide technical leadership during architectural discussions and contribute to the long-term technology strategy.
Develop and optimize cloud-native applications and services using Microsoft Azure. Design, develop, and maintain background processing solutions utilizing Azure Functions, Windows Services, Worker Services, or similar technologies. Implement and promote application security best practices, ensuring secure authentication, authorization, and data protection.
Ensure application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability through continuous improvement initiatives. Drive CI/CD implementation and deployment automation using Azure DevOps. Work with support teams to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions. Promote engineering best practices such as clean code, coding standards, automated testing, documentation, and continuous improvement. Manage technical risks, provide accurate effort estimations, and ensure successful execution of project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
8 to 10 years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET/.NET Core. Strong expertise in designing and developing scalable, high-performance enterprise applications. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native application development. Proficient with SQL Server and experience working with NoSQL databases such as Azure Cosmos DB.
Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and distributed systems. Experience developing background processing solutions using Azure Functions, Windows Services, Worker Services, or message-based architectures. Strong knowledge of application security principles and secure software development practices.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and release management. Proficiency with Git and modern version control workflows. Experience with Application Insights, monitoring, logging, and observability practices. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with proven experience leading development teams, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with event-driven or message-based architectures is highly desirable. Knowledge of Angular is considered a plus. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Islamabad, offering a monthly salary range of PKR 350,000 to PKR 500,000. Candidates should be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate to Islamabad prior to starting work.
