Procurement Intern (US – Construction)

We are a Houston, Texas–based general contractor specializing in a variety of commercial construction projects across the United States. We are seeking a motivated Procurement Intern to join our Procurement Department located in Wapda Town, Lahore. This full-time internship, operating on a night shift from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM, is an excellent opportunity for fresh Civil Engineering graduates who are eager to gain practical experience in US-based construction procurement. The role involves hands-on involvement in vendor sourcing, purchasing, and supplier coordination, providing valuable exposure to procurement processes within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating accurate purchase orders aligned with project requirements.
- Support the preparation of submittals for architects in accordance with project specifications.
- Help identify and research new vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors based on project location and scope.
- Coordinate with project and technical teams to understand material, equipment, and service needs.
- Assist in evaluating suppliers considering pricing, quality, and reliability factors.
- Maintain and update the supplier database and procurement records.
- Support the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs), including vendor communications.
- Track purchase orders and monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding order status and assist in resolving basic discrepancies.
- Help verify that delivered materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain documentation related to procurement activities and supplier performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within vendor sourcing and procurement processes.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of construction materials and procurement processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn US construction procurement practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
