1Now is a New York-based car rental software company dedicated to empowering Turo hosts and rental operators to manage their businesses directly. The platform provides operators with their own booking sites, ID and insurance verification, payment processing, and fleet management tools. Additionally, 1Now offers Carisma, an AI agent that handles daily operations. Serving over 300 operators across 49 states, the company’s mission is to put a billion cars to work by streamlining and enhancing the rental experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Product Engineer (Front End) with 1 to 3 years of experience, you will be responsible for owning the user interfaces that operators and renters interact with daily. This includes the booking flow and fleet dashboard. Your work will involve building and improving booking sites, website builders, and operator dashboards using Next.js, React, and TypeScript. You will translate product ideas into clean, responsive, and accessible interfaces that function seamlessly across all devices. Creating reusable components will be essential to ensure fixes and updates apply universally across templates and client sites.
You will connect front-end components to backend APIs and payment systems, carefully handling edge cases and errors. Utilizing AI coding tools like Claude and Claude Code will be part of your daily workflow to design, build, test, debug, and critically review code output. Maintaining a strong focus on performance, security, and data privacy is especially important for sensitive screens such as checkout and ID verification. Collaboration with QA, Product, and Support teams to reproduce issues, implement fixes, and ensure resolution is key. Thorough documentation of your work will enable the team to maintain and extend the codebase effectively.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have 1 to 3 years of hands-on front-end development experience with React and TypeScript. Experience with Next.js is highly desirable. A keen eye for UI details such as layout, spacing, responsiveness, and consistency is essential. A solid understanding of REST APIs, state management, Git, and browser rendering processes is required. Practical experience with AI coding tools, particularly Claude or Claude Code, along with the ability to critically assess their output, is important.
You should approach your work with a product owner mindset, caring deeply about whether features truly meet operator needs beyond just closing tickets. Being self-driven, quick to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment is necessary. Clear written communication skills in English are also required. While a degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, strong demonstrated work and shipped projects are equally valued.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with payment integrations such as Stripe, design systems, or website builders is a plus. Familiarity with testing frameworks like Playwright or Cypress, as well as monitoring tools such as Sentry or PostHog, will be advantageous.
The company offers a hybrid work environment, health coverage (IPD), paid time off (PTO), and annual performance-based salary increments.
