We are seeking a skilled Project Architect to lead the development and coordination of architectural drawing sets for custom homes and residential renovation projects. This full-time remote role operates during U.S. business hours. The successful candidate will manage projects from schematic design through permit-ready construction documents, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and compliance with California building codes and Title 24 energy requirements. Collaboration with the design team and project stakeholders is essential to translate client goals into practical, buildable designs while maintaining high standards of technical documentation and visual presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive architectural drawing sets for custom residential homes and renovation projects, progressing from schematic design to permit-ready construction documents.
- Produce detailed, accurate plans suitable for permitting and construction, proactively identifying and resolving coordination conflicts before field implementation.
- Apply California building codes and local jurisdiction requirements rigorously, incorporating Title 24 energy compliance where applicable.
- Ensure all plans and documentation are precise and ready for permit submission, staying current with relevant code updates and jurisdiction-specific standards.
- Create 3D models and renderings to effectively communicate design intent, preparing visual materials for client presentations and internal reviews.
- Support interior design decisions including space planning, materials, and finishes, integrating these elements accurately into construction documents.
- Organize and maintain drawing sets across multiple projects, tracking revisions and ensuring version control to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Collaborate closely with the design team and project stakeholders, translating client goals into buildable documentation, communicating project status proactively, and incorporating feedback and redlines into updated drawings.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience producing complete architectural drawing sets for custom residential homes and renovation projects.
- Strong knowledge of California building codes and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Hands-on experience with California Title 24 energy compliance.
- Proficiency in architectural drafting and 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar residential design tools.
- Experience with interior design documentation, including space planning, finish schedules, and material specifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve coordination conflicts across drawing sheets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and drawing sets simultaneously while meeting permit submission deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication in English.
