We are seeking a Project Coordinator – GIS to support the planning, tracking, and delivery of GIS and geospatial product development projects. This role requires close collaboration with GIS engineers, software developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and clients, focusing on web-based GIS applications. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of GIS workflows, product development lifecycles, and Agile methodologies. They will be skilled at coordinating cross-functional technical teams to ensure projects and product features are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of GIS and geospatial software products from inception through release.
- Collaborate closely with GIS engineers, software developers, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Manage product backlogs, feature planning, sprint progress, and release schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Track project timelines, deliverables, milestones, and dependencies to maintain project health.
- Gather, document, and manage both business and technical requirements effectively.
- Communicate project and product status updates clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and address project risks, blockers, and scope changes, coordinating mitigation strategies.
- Ensure GIS data quality, documentation accuracy, and compliance with established project standards.
- Oversee testing phases including quality assurance, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production releases.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation such as meeting minutes, progress reports, and product roadmaps.
- Prepare business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Lead client meetings, gather feedback, and maintain timely communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience coordinating GIS, geospatial, or software product development projects.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional product development teams.
- Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Basic knowledge of spatial data formats including LAS/LAZ, GeoTIFF, SHP, GeoJSON, etc.
- Excellent project coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working alongside developers, GIS analysts, QA engineers, and technical teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with web-based GIS products or 3D visualization platforms.
- Background in managing SaaS or enterprise software products.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Amazon S3.
- Familiarity with project management tools.
- Understanding of GIS workflows related to mapping, spatial analysis, visualization, and data processing.
- Experience preparing product documentation, user stories, release notes, or technical documentation.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
