The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian organization dedicated to responding to the world’s most severe crises. Established in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC operates in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, restoring health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and empowerment to communities affected by conflict and disaster. IRC employees are committed to delivering lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity, and hope to millions. If you are a solutions-driven and passionate change-maker, this role offers an opportunity to positively influence the lives of vulnerable populations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
The GBV Case Worker will lead the implementation of gender-based violence (GBV) case management services within assigned areas. This includes identifying and assessing GBV risks, conducting survivor-centered case management, and ensuring adherence to IRC policies and GBV guiding principles. Responsibilities include conducting intake, safety planning, case planning, follow-ups, and case closures. The role requires developing individualized case action plans with survivors and providing safe, confidential referrals to health, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), legal, protection, and other specialized services. The GBV Case Worker will maintain accurate and confidential case records, identify urgent cases for timely escalation, and conduct community outreach to raise awareness about GBV risks and available services. Coordination with service providers and protection actors is essential, while upholding principles of Do No Harm, confidentiality, informed consent, respect, and non-discrimination. The position also involves identifying service gaps, participating in coordination meetings, trainings, case discussions, and contributing to program reporting and monitoring. Compliance with IRC safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), data protection, and accountability standards is mandatory.

Required Qualifications
A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from an HEC-recognized university in Social Sciences, Education, or a related field is required. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience, including at least 1 year in GBV, protection, case management, or related humanitarian programming. Demonstrated experience in implementing protection and GBV services for vulnerable communities is essential. Strong communication, coordination, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are necessary, alongside proficiency in IT and documentation, including case management and reporting systems. Excellent report-writing skills and fluency in English are also required.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Relevant qualifications or professional experience specifically in GBV, protection, or case management are preferred. Practical experience with referral systems, protection monitoring, and service mapping is highly valued. Experience working in humanitarian settings, particularly in areas such as Chaghi, Killa Abdullah, or Chaman, is advantageous. Strong skills in reporting, coordination, documentation, and case management are important for success in this role.

The GBV Case Worker must uphold IRC’s ethical and professional standards, including the Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, PSEA requirements, data protection, and confidentiality. All services must respect survivors’ dignity, safety, choices, and informed consent. IRC fosters an environment of integrity, service, equality, and accountability, promoting a safe workplace and delivering high-quality support to affected communities.
