QA Engineer

Tabiat is seeking a dedicated QA Engineer to join their team and ensure the delivery of high-quality software releases and production-ready features. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance methodologies, including manual testing, automated testing frameworks, and API validation. In addition to identifying defects, this role requires a proactive approach to resolving minor bugs and technical issues, such as UI adjustments and simple logic corrections, to enhance the overall production workflow. The candidate will quickly familiarize themselves with the existing codebase and workflows, ensuring all deliverables meet rigorous quality standards. Familiarity with development tools and processes like Git, Linear, Agile methodologies, and test-driven development is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test plans and refine existing test cases to cover all aspects of the software.
- Conduct manual and automated testing using frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright.
- Perform API testing with tools like Postman or REST Assured to validate backend functionality.
- Write and execute database queries (MySQL) to verify data integrity and troubleshoot issues.
- Identify, report, and track bugs, providing clear and detailed documentation for the development team.
- Collaborate closely with developers to discuss bugs, clarify requirements, and ensure timely resolution.
- Contribute to the codebase by fixing minor defects, UI tweaks, and simple logic errors to streamline production.
- Participate in daily meetings to understand feature goals, provide status updates, and align with the team’s objectives.
- Maintain consistent communication and documentation to support agile workflows and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing.
- Proficiency with testing frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright.
- Basic development skills, particularly in reading and editing Node.js/JavaScript code for minor bug fixes.
- Experience with API testing tools like Postman or REST Assured.
- Ability to write and execute MySQL queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles to ensure polished features and fix minor layout issues.
- Familiarity with version control and project management tools, specifically Git and Linear.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Islamabad before starting work.
- Willingness to work full-time in an in-person setting.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience in a hybrid role combining testing and basic development tasks is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude toward independently fixing small issues.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a consistent, reliable work ethic.
- The position offers a monthly salary range of PKR 100,000 to PKR 150,000.
- Work location is based at the 10th Floor, Allegiance Tower, New Blue Area, Islamabad.
